Lausanne rekindles
with world class competition

Press release Tuesday 23 August 2016

Land of champions, the city of Lausanne, located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, will host a new international horse show jumping competition, an event labelled 5 stars (CSI5*) from September 8 to 11 2016.

Home of federations and international sports organizations, as well as the heartland of the International Equestrian Federation, Lausanne finally rekindles with top-level sport competition and excellence. Sponsored by the Longines watch company, and many prestigious partners, the Longines International Horse Show of Lausanne is now proudly part of the major events of the international equestrian calendar.

"In Lausanne everybody celebrates!”

Jean-François Danton, Sporting Director:

"Lausanne enjoys a strong cultural and sporting identity, and equestrian sport adds a "qualitative spirit.” The Longines International Horse Show of Lausanne is the only top level Swiss event entirely free to the public. Our goal is not only to make this CSI5* event a world class staple, but also to make it open to all, original and family friendly. Everyone is a celebrity at the Lausanne Horse Show. Indeed, there is no difference between the riders and the public at our event, because our sole purpose is to share the passion for the horses and the sport with everyone. Three levels of competition will be offered this year: a CSI5* reserved to the jumping elite, a CSI2* for amateurs and professionals and a CSI U25, otherwise called Talents Longines, featuring 30 up-and-coming talented riders competing in the same conditions as their elders. The organization of this CSI U25 is of particular importance to us, as the city of Lausanne will host the 2020 Youth Olympic games.”
